The Five Kingdoms of Severi Book One will be extended another season. Yay! Though there is no release date for the last season or the total episodes it will consist of, I am excited to share with you another excerpt. I have included a summary of what the book is about for those barely joining in. Enjoy!

About the Series

The Five Kingdoms of Severi is a Fantasy/Drama series published by BigWorldNetwork and available in episodic format. During its running season a new episode is released weekly with all previous episodes available for instant read.

Synopsis

In a time of peace and treaties, the five kingdoms of Severi lay unguarded and open to the dark hearts of man. Terdune, a neighboring land that had been at constant war with Severi, was defeated over 20 years ago. All threats were eradicated and its lands left without a ruler. Now a new evil has taken up reigns in Terdune and slowly makes it way to its adjacent sister.

Edwin’s village is attacked and he is forced to travel halfway across the second kingdom to the King’s Hold. Along the way he must learn the true power of the gifts that were bestowed upon him and discover the meaning of the dreaded fate attached to them.

Excerpt: (Season 3 Episode 5)

Edwin and Alden stumbled in the dark, unable to find the opening they had come through. They continued through the narrow path, using the wall as support and guide. With no light or means to make a fire their progress was slow and torturous.

“Dammit,” Alden cursed, bumping and scraping his arms for the tenth time against the jagged rocks. He pushed on to only curse again as a rock dug into his leg and tore his trousers. How he hated himself for not thinking of taking a torch with him. He had assumed Eudora would be traveling with them only to discover that the woman had locked them in a dark hell with no clue in what direction to go.

“Alden, must you bump into every rock and sharp edge there is?” Edwin moaned beneath his breath, muffling another cry of pain. He gripped his cut arm and tried to ignore the throbbing in one of his legs. Blood seeped down his trousers and this time it was Edwin’s turn to curse as Alden slipped again.

The young prince bumped his head against a low clearing in the tunnel and almost lost his balance. He reached out to the walls for support only to receive in turn deep gashes in his hands as he tried to regain his footing.

“Stop. Let me try something,” his friend’s voice echoed all around him.

Edwin closed his eyes and tried to force back the pain coursing through his entire body from the countless wounds and gashes Alden had given him. He clung to the crystal now securely around his neck and tried to think of the crystals shining, of the bright light they had emitted before, to no avail. Whatever had activated them before refused to work now.

Then the words the Oracle had said radiated in his mind. His father’s sword would both heal him and provide light to their dark prison. Edwin felt for the hilt of his sword and moved to unsheathe it. Before he could secure a grip on the weapon, his legs buckled as a tremor shook the very ground he stood on.

Alden lost his hold and tripped, landing hard on the floor. He moaned at the sound of his back cracking and tried to rise. He had managed to kneel when the floor beneath him gave way. He was sent bum first down a chasm, his hands flapping wildly in all directions for something to stop or slow his fall.

“Alden!” Edwin called out, unsure of what had happened to his friend. He unsheathed his sword and took a step forward, right into the gap in the ground.

Bright light surrounded him as he too fell into the chasm, giving him a clear view of the prince’s falling form. Before he could call out again, he bumped his head against a large rock. His fingers went slack and his sword fell from his grasp. It clanged against the walls and disappeared in the renewed darkness. Edwin crashed to the ground, his entire body going numb with pain.

A moan escaped his lips as he turned to his side. “Al…Alden…” he groaned, his throat aching and robbing him of the ability to say anything else.

“Are you sure you’re eighteen?” Alden croaked to the side of Edwin, rising to his feet. “I mean, Eudora said you were able to use your weapons at will. So why didn’t you light our way sooner?” he mocked, adding extra emphasis on his last question and dusting himself off.

“I was…trying…” Edwin replied, pressing himself against a large boulder and using it to help him rise. “You, on the other hand…bumped, tripped, and dragged us into a ravine.”

“Well, forgive me if I can’t see in the dark,” Alden argued, stumbling over another rock. He kicked it in frustration, sending the rock banging against another large boulder.

A loud tremor shook the walls and ground around them. Edwin dropped to all fours and searched blindly for his sword. Alden’s hand fell on the hilt of his weapon and he unsheathed it just as a pair of yellow eyes stared back at him through the pitch blackness.
