A Look at a Past Recommended Author

For today’s FREE ebook I thought we take a look at a past author already listed on this blog, Robyn Peterman. I have reviewed one of her other books, Fashionably Dead. Want to see the review and the score I gave that book check it out here.

But for today we are talking about a different book, Switching Hour: Magic and Mayhem Book One.

Released from the magic pokey and paroled with limited power is enough to make any witch grumpy. However, if you throw in a recently resurrected cat, a lime-green Kia and a sexy egotistical werewolf, it’s enough to make a gal fly off the edge.

Not to mention a mission…with no freaking directions.

So here I sit in Asscrack, West Virginia trying to figure out how to complete my mysterious mission before All Hallows Eve when I’ll get turned into a mortal. The animals in the area are convinced I’m the Shifter Whisperer (whatever the hell that is) and the hotter-than- asphalt-in-August werewolf thinks I’m his mate. Now apparently I’m slated to save a bunch of hairy freaks of nature?

If they think I’m the right witch for the job, they’ve swallowed some bad brew.

Want to give this book a read? Check it’s Amazon listing.

Have your own free eBook that you would like to see showcased here, just let me know in the comments. And if you would like to support me, a local self-published author, check out my A Prince From Another World, a gay fantasy/romance, series.

Part Three of the Series will be coming out later this month.

Till next time keep writing and inspiring.

Free eBooks and Discovering a New Author

Free eBooks are a great way to try out a new author and get a taste of their writing style. Patty Jansen is an author I just discovered and she has written countless books. She currently has two books for free and various collections also for free. But in this post I will be sharing only one, her Ambassador 1: Seeing Red.

A Matt Damon political thriller meets Total Recall action with Avatar otherwordliness. —-Ditmar Award winning author Zena Shapter

It is the sign of a great story teller when an intricate political landscape can be seamlessly woven into your brain without you ever noticing. I was well and truly hooked. The hierarchies and customs of various alien races are understandably complex but not too much to lose the reader. The story is fast-paced and twisting as Cory tries to unravel who can perpetrate the attack on the President and why they would do so, while enduring stonewalling and spying from all sides of politics, including his own. —Reviewer at SQ Magazine (sqmag.com/)

Ambassador 1: Seeing Red

Ambassador 1

24 October 2114: the day that shocked the world.

Young diplomat Cory Wilson narrowly escapes death in the assassination of President Sirkonen. No one claims responsibility but there is no doubt that the attack is extraterrestrial.

Cory was meant to start work as a representative to Gamra, the alien organisation that governs the FTL transport network, but now his new job may well be scrapped in anger.

Worse, as Earth uses military force to stop any extraterrestrials coming or leaving, as 200,000 extraterrestrial humans are trapped on Earth, as the largest army in the galaxy prepares to free them by force, only Cory has the experience, language skills and contacts to solve the crime.

But he’s broke, out of a job and a long way from Earth.

A Quick and Easy Guide for Self-Publishing Authors

Book Review/Blog Update

I have way too many unfinished manuscripts on my laptop just waiting for that ‘special’ day to arrive. Fast forward six years and that day is still nowhere in sight, or maybe I had my eyes closed when it arrived. Whatever the case may be, it is time to get into gear and finish projects I started and discarded.

Who’s with me?!

But wait, being self-published is hard and a lot of work. There is cover design, formatting, and editing. Good thing there is “Building Your Book for Kindle” by Kindle Direct Publishing. It’s a free guide in formatting your ebook to sell on Amazon.

Get your own copy here.

This little hidden treasure is a resource all authors need! After giving it a read, I popped open an old story and got to formatting. It was easier than I thought, keep in mind that this is only one type of formatting. We will save the rest of them for a later blog entry.

Some of the topics covered:

• Before You Write

• Building the Front Matter of Your Book

• Building Your Table of Contents

• Uploading and Checking the Quality of Your Book

A few hours later my story was ready for publishing as an ebook on Amazon. I uploaded my self made cover and gave the previewer a go. It was like all the hard work was done for me.

Thanks to this writer’s resource I am not a published author using 1 of my 2 alias/pen names. I have since then put another on Pre-Order. I can’t give this little gem enough praise.

If you haven’t read it and are struggling to format your ebook for self-publishing on Amazon this is the one for you.

September 2018 Free Ebook Spotlight

Free eBook spotlights returns. These will stay monthly for the moment and might become biweekly or not. Time will tell.

As for this month, I know it is the last day of September but I am still counting it. That is the power of posting in your own blog. 🙂

The-First-Adventure

Jennet Carter never thought hacking into her dad’s new epic-fantasy sim-game would be so exciting… or dangerous. Behind the interface, dark forces lie in wait, leading her toward a battle that will test her to her limits and cost her more than she ever imagined.

I am subscribed to this author’s newsletter and decided to check out more of her books and found she has a few that are currently free.

All her books have stunning covers and very interesting storylines. If you are into RPG gaming stories this might be the one for you. If you want to start off with this series, this novella is a great way to go. It is the prequel to the series.

Why settle for ONE free eBook when you can get several…?

Story-Cartel-logo

Since I missed June and July’s free eBook Spotlight I thought I give another shout out to Story Cartel. Amazon and Smashwords are filled with eBooks priced at $0. One can’t beat FREE, especially with Summer demanding those endless ICEEs and splashes in the pool. But what is even better is the chance to try a book out before it is released. Here are a few that have caught my attention from the great selection of genres Story Cartel has to offer:

The White Death by Daniel Rafferty

thewhitedeath

Expires in less than 21 hours

A deadly virus sweeping across Planet Earth…

An Alien Council with questionable motives and unlimited resources…

A threat to humanity greater than anything before…

It’s a busy day for the new President of the United States. To ensure humanity has a future and take drastic global action to curb the spread of the virus, President Thomas Morgan turns to the only people he can trust to solve the crisis and save humanity: Section 51, a team of scientists and public servants — and one loyal alien named Freda — operating beneath Area 51 in Nevada.

As human populations begin turning on each other, desperate for survival at all costs, civilized societies across the planet begin to disintegrate. Governments crumble, chaos reigns, and death spreads like wildfire. Can the president and Section 51 thwart the real possibility of extinction … and handle the consequences of their heart breaking decisions?

The Accord by Karl J. Morgan

theaccord

Expires in 17 days

A chance encounter with Zeet of The Accord almost doomed our galaxy in Tears of Gallia. Dave Brewster travels to a forgotten planet to uncover their intentions. The cyborgs of The Accord were once human, but have long ago moved their brains into robots. Now their leaders are massive constructed planets, hosting millions of smaller cyborgs and billions of human slaves who serve as laborers and food.

But The Accord has a problem. The Magallenic Clouds are running out of metal to build more robots. Now they must invade our galaxy to recruit new Friends and to harvest the metal and feedstock of our worlds.

While the Free Society masses its starship fleet to fight back, Dave must find a way to slow them down, or somehow convince them to end their heinous reign of terror. The Accord is an epic tale of impending war against a vastly superior enemy. It is also a story of new love, enduring faith and the ultimate power in the universe.

Demon’s Daughter (Cursed Series Book 1) by Amy Braun

demonsdaughter

Expires in 10 days

Wanted by law enforcement. Chased by drug cartels. Hunted by demons…

Constance Ramirez has more than her share of problems when it comes to protecting her adopted sister, Andromeda. Especially since Andromeda isn’t fully human, and her strange powers are dangerous and out of control.

But Constance will do anything to keep her safe, which won’t be easy with bounty hunters hired by the drug cartel she betrayed looking to capture her, and savage monsters seeking to take Andromeda for their own dark purposes.

Being a big sister has never been so hard… Or so deadly.
